Types of Lifestyle Photography Sessions in East Tennessee

One of the questions I hear most is simply, "What kind of session should I book?" So let's walk through it.

Family Sessions

These are the heart of what I do. Family sessions are for capturing your people exactly as they are right now, whether that's a quiet morning at home or a walk through a favorite outdoor spot across greater Knoxville or the Tri-Cities. I don't ask you to be perfectly posed and matching. I ask you to just be together.

Milestone Sessions

First birthdays, new babies, graduations, growth over a season of life. Milestone sessions are for marking the moments that don't come back around, the ones you'll want to look back on years from now and remember exactly how they were.

Portrait Sessions

Sometimes you just want beautiful images of you, whether that's a solo portrait session or a smaller, more focused shoot. These tend to be a little more directed than a full family session, but still relaxed.

Couples Sessions

For couples, engagements, or anniversaries. These sessions lean into connection. I want the way you actually look at each other to come through, not a stiff, staged version of it.

Play Sessions

This is where I really get to take the gloves off. Play sessions step outside the traditional portrait mold entirely and lean into creativity, imagination, and fun.

One of my favorite recurring play session themes is what I call "Something Borrowed." Mothers and daughters come together as the daughter steps into her mother's wedding dress for the first time. It's meaningful. It's powerful. It's connective. Tears are typical, and so is a whole lot of laughter and pure wonder. I hope to do many more of these in the coming months and years, because there's nothing quite like watching that moment unfold between a mother and daughter.

Where Sessions Happen

My sessions work indoors or outdoors, whichever fits you and your vision best. Natural light is always flattering and my personal favorite to shoot in, but I'm just as comfortable working in a studio setting or in your own home for a more staged, intentional session. Wherever we shoot, across greater Knoxville, the Tri-Cities, or anywhere in East Tennessee, the goal stays the same: capturing you as you really are.
