Meet Brookney Chamberlain:
the photographer behind Hux and Mae.
I’m a seasoned creative with nearly two decades of experience in the advertising world and a southern mama with two toddlers who insist on doing things their own way every single day. Which means I know how to create beautiful images with intention and how to stay calm when things go sideways.
I've seen baby spit up fly at the worst possible time. I've watched toddlers melt down because the wind blew wrong. I've worked with adults who would rather be anywhere else than in front of a camera. Yeap... none of that bothers me. We will take it in stride together and make it enjoyable. Some of the most meaningful photographs happen in those unscripted moments anyway.

Where creative expertise meets real life storytelling
Working as an art director and creative director for nearly two decades continues to shape the way I understand light, detail and atmosphere. Years of collaborating with talented photographers and videographers have refined my ability to create intentional images and guide people in a way that feels natural and comfortable.
That experience built the technical foundation. Life built the heart behind this work. Hux and Mae is where both worlds meet. The skill and intention from my creative career come together with a genuine love for the raw, real and everyday moments that matter most.
In Fall of 2026, this community humbled me beyond words when Hux and Mae Photo was voted Best Photographer and Best New Business in the greater Knoxville area through the Knox Stars Community's Choice Awards. Inspired by everyday moments
My Irish twins, Huxley and Maevyn, are the namesakes behind Hux and Mae. They opened my eyes to how quickly the simple parts of life can become the ones we treasure the most. The tiny hands reaching up. The soft curls after a nap. The way they cling to you one minute and run full speed the next. The details that feel ordinary in the moment but mean everything when you look back.
Although my own family inspired this creative outlet, my work exists for all stories. Couples. Families. Individuals. Friends. And all the beloved fur babies who complete your world. Every season of life carries details and connection worth remembering.
